All-on-4 Cost in Australia: What You Actually Pay Per Arch

Between $25,000 and $35,000 per arch. Both arches generally lands between $50,000 and $70,000. Those are the real numbers — the rest of this page is about what sits inside them, and why two quotes for “the same thing” can differ by ten thousand dollars.

We coordinate treatment in Vietnam, so we have an interest in one option mentioned near the end. The rest of this page is about getting a fair deal in Australia, which is what most people reading it will do.

What All-on-4 actually is

A full arch of fixed teeth supported by four implants. The two at the back go in at an angle, which lets the surgeon anchor into bone that is still dense enough — and that angling is often what avoids the bone grafting a conventional approach would need.

It is fixed, not removable. You do not take it out at night. That is the main reason people choose it over a denture, and the main reason it costs what it does.

What the base quote usually covers

  • Four titanium implants placed at angles that use your existing bone
  • The surgical procedure itself, including theatre time and the surgeon's fee
  • A temporary fixed bridge, often fitted the same day
  • The final bridge, once healing is complete — sometimes months later

What is often quoted separately

This is where the gap between two quotes usually hides:

  • 3D CBCT imaging and digital surgical planning
  • Extraction of any remaining teeth in the arch
  • Bone grafting or a sinus lift where the jaw needs building up
  • IV sedation or general anaesthetic, if you want it
  • The upgrade from an acrylic final bridge to zirconia — often several thousand
  • Review appointments and adjustments across the healing period

The acrylic-versus-zirconia question catches the most people out. Many quotes assume an acrylic final bridge. Zirconia is stronger, looks better and lasts longer — and typically adds several thousand per arch. Confirm which one your quote assumes before you compare it to anything.

Six questions that make two quotes comparable

  1. 1Is this per arch or for both? A full-mouth figure is roughly double.
  2. 2Which implant system — Straumann, Nobel Biocare, or something unnamed?
  3. 3Is the final bridge acrylic or zirconia, and what does the upgrade cost?
  4. 4Are extractions and grafting included or extra?
  5. 5How many implants — four, or six? All-on-6 costs more and suits some jaws better.
  6. 6What does the warranty cover, for how long, and what voids it?

Why it costs this much here

Four implant fixtures, a milled bridge, several hours of surgical time from a trained implantologist, 3D planning, laboratory work, and review appointments spread across months of healing. Add Australian practice overheads — wages, rent, insurance, compliance — and $30,000 an arch stops being mysterious.

Before assuming you must go overseas, ask about a payment plan, check what your extras cover, and get a second opinion from another Australian clinic. Quotes for the same arch genuinely do vary between practices here.

If you are weighing up treatment abroad

The saving is real — commonly 50 to 60 per cent with flights and accommodation counted, using the same Straumann or Nobel Biocare systems. But All-on-4 is not a one-visit treatment. The implants integrate over months, and you will be home long before the final bridge is fitted, so the plan needs to account for either a second trip or coordinated follow-up in Australia.

Ask exactly the same six questions above of any overseas clinic, plus one more: who is clinically responsible if the bridge fails after you fly home. The honest answer is always the treating clinic — so get the warranty terms in writing before you pay a deposit.
